Day 8: 30 Days - 30 Paintings - Feb. 2018

Desert Kachina Totem

My Arizona Collection has expanded again today.  This particular piece began as one thing -remained rather obstinant for quite a while - before evolving into a desert Kachina totem.

Enjoy another trip to the desert!

Day 5: 30 Days - 30 Paintings - Sept. 2016

Sri Yantra Moon Rising

There is a certain amount of whimsy in today's painting...another in the Sri Yantra series.  I was intrigued by the color combinations, the dancing landscape and the free-wheeling sky. You may see something totally different - let me know...

Enjoy!

Day 30 - 30 Paintings - 30 Days - January, 2016

Sunset in the City

As of today, the sun is setting on the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge -  January, 2016. The experience of making the commitment to produce a painting per day may aptly be termed a challenge in the midst of the happenings of 'daily life' - especially if the process is outside of what one normally does.

What I love about the process is that it moves you out of a place of the severe inner critic and allows you to accept the goodness of what you produce as an unfolding.  some days I loved what appeared on the canvas/panel/paper and other days it was more of an acceptance and learning of the potential of what could evolve in the next painting.

I also love the interaction with my many painter-friends - many of whom have become wonderful 'cyber-friends' and great supporters.  I have learned so much from each of you - old and new.  Thank you so much!!!  Thanks also to Leslie Saeta for being the catalyst to allow this all to happen.

Day 29 - 30 Paintings - 30 Days - January, 2016

Gilded Diamonds

The Harlequins strike again!  The series keeps expanding.  Today's painting includes warm and transparent Quinacridones paints along with metallic Gold.  Unfortunately the deep and shiny Gold is difficult to capture in a photo.  It truly exudes a rich and warm glow in person!

Day 28 - 30 Paintings - 30 Days - January, 2016

Lemuria

Lemuria is the name of a hypothetical lost land deemed to be located in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.  It was thought that the continent sank beneath the ocean as a result of a major geologic event such as a pole shift.

For whatever reason, this painting seemed to choose its own underwater name.

Day 27 - 30 Paintings - 30 Days - January, 2016

Going Green

At times I shy away from working in green because it seems to oftentimes be a very fickle range of colors.  Then, I get my hands sloppy with paint and delight in the variety of shades of green that can be mixed - and I have a great time.  Here I'm peering through the illusion of a barrier that holds me from playing with greens...before I decide to just have fun and go green...

Day 18 - 30 Paintings - 30 Days - January, 2016

Sunny Day Static

Static rains down on a sunny landscape.  Acrylic on mineral paper creates a soft resistance and glow, not unlike the quality of the paper itself.  It is an intriguing substrate on which to work.  I like it!

Enjoy!

Flower Field

Early January is a time to be reminded of the hope of things to come and that this new year has an abundance of color, sunshine and light to bestow on us.

Today's painting combines mixed media - acrylic mono-print on an Ampersand Clayboard panel.  Enjoy!

Day 17 - 30 Paintings - 30 Days, September, 2015

Purple Print Four Ways

The mono-print below appears to be one of those that has can be viewed rather successfully from any side - vertical, horizontal, up or down.
Which do you prefer? #1, #2, #3 or #4?
Let me know.

Also - did anyone notice any shells in the mono-print? (Refer back to Days 6 & 7 for the significance of the shell in my work.)

Emergence

There are many subtleties in this piece that I love.  The blending of soft colors over the patterns from the depths below appear to be emerging from the darkness.

Day 4 - 30 Paintings - 30 Days, September, 2015

Harlequin Series #4

Day 4 brings two companion pieces as adjuncts to yesterday's mono-print/painting on canvas (see below).  These mono-prints on paper include some of the same elements that were used in yesterday's piece.

The repetition of color and shape may be evident but it is obvious that they are not identical.  The canvas substrate has its own identity and feel - complete with texture which is not a part of either mono-print on paper.

Day 3 - 30 Paintings - 30 Days, September, 2015

Harlequin Series #3

Today's painting is another in my Harlequin Series.  It is a more detailed design that to me elicits something of an underwater scene.  Also included is molding paste which adds texture and relief in several areas.

Tomorrow I will post several of the accompanying mono-prints on paper that were generated in conjunction with this painting.

Be sure to check back tomorrow to see how the prints differ but still remain a part of the Harlequin Series!

Day 1 - 30 Paintings - 30 Days, September, 2015

Harlequin Series #1

I have been working with the integration of mono-printing and canvas.  My first painting for the 30 Paintings in 30 Days September 2015 Challenge is a reflection of this.

The process includes both printing on paper and on canvas - which ultimately leads to multiple, integrated creations using the same theme.  This is how my Harlequin Series began.

Included here is the canvas component with the Harlequin theme.  The reflective nature of the gold paint is difficult to see in a photo, but lovely in person.
