Day 18: 30 Days - 30 Paintings - Feb. 2018

Eagle Eye

Some paintings evolve easily.  This was not one of those paintings.  There are many collage elements in the mix - including a metal band from a wine bottle.  There is also a good deal of texture plus some shiny copper paint which unfortunately does not translate into the photo.

It is all mounted on an 11" x 14" x 3/4" panel and is a bit heavy.

Enjoy!

Day 17: 30 Days - 30 Paintings - Feb. 2018

Diamondback

Arizona and diamondback go hand-in-hand - whether you are describing a baseball team or a rattlesnake.  You may decide how this painting may fit into the diamondback category.

The colors are warm and inviting - featuring quinacridone gold, maroon, iridescent copper, with just a touch of turquoise.

Click on the painting to see more detail and color.

Enjoy!

Day 16: 30 Days - 30 Paintings - Feb. 2018

Cliff Dwelling

This colorful, sheer cliffside may be the home of copper deposits, plus many beings and creatures - hard to say. :o)  What are your thoughts?

The painting is signed on the back because it is possible to enjoy it from either vertical and/or horizontal views.

Enjoy!

Day 15: 30 Days - 30 Paintings - Feb. 2018

Muted Reflection

The muted palette today appeared after a full day of rain and grey skies in the desert yesterday - an unusual experience - especially this year.  It was enjoyable to work in more quiet colors reflecting the tone of the soft light.

Enjoy!

Day 14: 30 Days - 30 Paintings - Feb. 2018

In the Flow

One of my favorite things is to create layers of color and complexity of shape, design and intensity.  Clcik on the painting to view some of the hidden and not so hidden elements.

Enjoy!

Day 13: 30 Days - 30 Paintings - Feb. 2018

Keep the Light Burning

I enjoyed the process of developing the colors, shapes and feel of this composition.  It began slowly and then evolved with wild and wooly abandon.

Day 12: 30 Days - 30 Paintings - Feb. 2018

Gold Leaf Canyon

This painting contains a good deal of gold leaf and therefore has shiny components that unfortunately do not photograph well.   I prize the traditional combination of Venetian Red Gesso and Gold Leaf - and then using it in an abstract composition.  I worked with the design elements off and on for a few weeks until producing this - with which I am pleased.

I hope you enjoy it as well!
